CAUSEWAY BAY EVENT A BIG HIT!

At 2:45, a large crowd of media, onlookers and kids gathered in front of the video screen at Sogo to witness the unveiling of a 2-minute video about air pollution. The video, which went live at 3 pm sharp, contained highlights from the footage created by 200 secondary school students from 13 schools throughout Hong Kong . These students were exposed to filmmaking for the first time during the last half of 2009 on a program created and implemented by FOCUS ON FILM.

Shortly before 3 pm, FoF Artistic Director, Elisa Rosati ascended the podium to congratulate the kids on successful completion of the One, Two GO! video mosaic.  CAN campaign manager, Sum Kwong, and celebrity duo, 2R, Race and Roseanne Wong, ascended the podium to congratulate the kids as well and to say a few words about the desperate state of Hong Kong's air.

After the banner-signing and photo-taking in front of Sogo, 60 students and teachers gathered at Times Square restaurant, SML, to meet each other and journalists.

There were a lot of media at yesterday's event, including Apple Daily, Oriental Daily, TVB and the SCMP, so expect to see coverage in your favorite publication this week.

The videos will be playing twice an hour 24/7 for the next month at both the Sogo screen and Times Square.  If you are in the neighborhood, don't forget to look up!

Jan 2010

Mark it on your calendars!  The date is FEBRUARY 6, 2010.  2:30PM

Hong Kong Mansion - at Yee Wo St and Great George St.  Causeway Bay.  See Map.

The unveiling of the work from the CLEAN-AIR-ONE-TWO-GO! campaign.  200 participants, 10 schools, one issue.  The students interviewed hundreds of Hong Kongers about their feelings on air quality.  Join us for speakers, videos, and a tea party afterwards.  Support the clean air initiative!

2009

The Clean Air Network Program has finished with a dozen participating schools learning the craft of film production over a three month period.  The participating students produced hundreds of video bytes that represent what young people in Hong Kong feel about the quality of the air they breathe.

Focus On Film will weave these videos into a mosaic of images which will be screened repeatedly in Times Square over a two month period.

Stay tuned for more information about the unveiling of the final work.

Sept 2009,

Focus On Film participated in the production of this promotional video by Filmages about the Clean Air Network and its effort to secure signatures for a campaign to lobby the government in Hong Kong for better air quality.  Focus On Film currently is running a program in over a dozen local schools in Hong Kong to produce video bytes with kids on the topic of air quality.  The work will be 'woven' into a video tapestry and publicly displayed at the end of the year.
